Celtic knots are most known for their use in the decoration of Christian monuments and manuscripts, such as the The Book of Kells, believed to have been created c.800 and housed at Trinity College Dublin. Most are endless knots, and many are varieties of basket weave knots. There are many meanings attributed to the infinity Celtic knot; continuity, the intertwining of wisdom and compassion, the joining together of two people forever. The Trinity Knot is the most well known and loved of all Celtic knots and in modern times has been given as a token of promise; to love, to honour and to protect.
